Well, this is a league of firsts..
My first blog.. My first trip to Goa.. My first visit to a casino.. My first attempt to eat fish.. First time involvement in a four - wheeler accident, an indirect one though.. My first experience at 150+ kmph on Indian roads..
I was craving to travel to Pondicherry this weekend since the past month.. But the plan failed.. Eventually I landed up planning for Goa.. This was another place where I always wanted visit.. People had wonderfully described how good it was, and my passion for going there was increasing manifold, per description I heard..
10 of us were divided into groups of 5 consisting of 2 drivers per group through lucky draw at 9.30 pm IST on January 23rd, 2009.
So, me and 9 others got all geared up to leave for Goa.. It was 24th January 2009, 3.30 AM IST..
We hit the Mumbai - Bangalore Highway (NH-4) straight away, and there began my first experience at 170kmph on Indian roads. Pune - Kolhapur is around 320 kms. We were in Kolhapur at 6.30 AM - which is pretty fast by all standards.Misal Pav was served for breakfast, which is one of the specialities of Kolhapur.
Then 50kms past Kolhapur began a bumpy ride. These were the classic Indian roads connecting villages and towns (the so called state highways, which are not in a good state). Our pace, naturally, had dropped to sub - 80 kmph levels. We were some 30 kms away from the infamous Amboli Ghat, when one of the two cars met with an accident..
(Description will continue.. after a short break)
